Sometimes, Allah doesn’t give you certain worldly things not because you don’t deserve them, but because He knows they may lead you down a path of confusion, sin, or even disbelief. And sometimes, Allah gives someone else worldly blessings not as a reward, but as a means to keep them firm in faith. So don’t envy someone’s wealth, beauty, or status. What they have might be a test you wouldn’t be able to handle. What you have is what’s safest for your faith, even if it doesn’t always feel like it. Think of beauty someone may envy a girl for her looks, not knowing that if they had the same beauty, they might fall into temptation and sin they couldn’t escape. The same goes for health and strength. The sick might envy the healthy, and the weak might envy the strong. But only Allah knows what would happen if the roles were reversed. Even rulers many may have once dreamed of helping their people, but the weight of power changed them. Dreams are easy; reality is the real test. Or the poor man who wanted to be rich to help others then once he had money, it consumed him. He buys one car, then craves another. Builds one house, then another. He gives a little in charity and feels proud, forgetting it’s only a tiny portion of what he owns. The money didn’t change his heart for the better it only made him want more. This dunya is a test. What you don’t have might actually be a mercy. This dunya is full of hidden traps. So be content. Trust Allah’s wisdom. What He gives and what He withholds is always for your good.
