#inmigracion #abogada #empatia #familia #abogadadeinmigracion

Official Statement from the Founder of Sisterhood Sanctuary In light of recent conversations and controversies surrounding the Ochanya case and my involvement, I wish to make the following clarifications: 1. My Role and Intention I initially raised my voice on TikTok to speak out against child marriage across Africa, following the “Marriage in Somalia” trend. My goal has always been to advocate for the rights of young girls and to call for accountability from institutions, including the EU and African governments. 2. Regarding the Ochanya Case When the tragic story of Ochanya , an 8-year-old victim of sexual assault, resurfaced online, I joined others in demanding justice. I took independent action organizing peaceful protests, setting up a Change.org petition, an ncrowdr and a GoFundMe campaign to support her family and legal efforts. 3. I also contacted my contact at the Police Force headquarters in Abuja in whom Ochanya's brother went to visit and a petition was asked of him. 4. I mobilized my largely women followers to go protest, using my whatsapp group of over 1200 women and my tiktok of over 300,000 women 5. I contacted my friend Mama Pee who added a voice to the matter and made Natasha Akpoti to post about it today asking for the Ochanya’s to petition, i want you to understand that this was my personal effort to help the case and I want to say we did a great work by making Natasha Akpoti and many people know of this issue. 6. Clarification on Finances I wish to state clearly that I am no longer involved in any financial aspect of this case. ○ I have handed over all backend access and control of the GoFundMe and related accounts to the Ochanawi family. ○ GoFundMe has disabled the link and placed the account under review. All funds raised (less than $3,000 out of the $50,000 goal) will be refunded to donors directly by GoFundMe. ○ I have not, at any point, taken or received money from this campaign. 7. Stepping Down from Further Involvement Given recent misunderstandings and the fact that the matter has reached higher authorities, including the Inspector General of Police and AIG’s office, and now Natasha Akpoti, I am officially stepping down from any direct role in coordinating this case or part of coordinating this case. It has grown beyond my individual capacity, and I trust that justice will now take its rightful course. 8. Response to Online Accusations I have been falsely accused of theft, fraud, and misinformation. These claims are untrue. My record of advocacy and activism stands clear. While I may have unintentionally shared information that required clarification, like the fact that the Ochanya were economically displaced,I publicly apologized and corrected it immediately when Ochanya sister clarified that they infact paid for Ochanya fees, clothes and the aunty only provided shelter and that they were not economically displaced. My intention has never been to harm the Ochanya family or misrepresent their circumstances. 9. Final Note I remain proud that my activism has inspired more people to speak out about ending child marriage and sexual violence against girls in Africa. The movement continues beyond me and that, ultimately, is what matters. I thank everyone who lent their voices, protested, and supported this cause in any capacity. 10. I am truly grateful to you Obidi Ojochide Founder, Sisterhood Sanctuary 30/10/2025
