Incoming President Trump just asked the Supreme Court to pause the law that is slated to ban Tiktok on January 19th of next year, just before he takes office. In the brief, Trump argues that banning TikTok would harm the first amendment rights of the app’s 170 million American users, and that as a social media mega-user himself, he’s well suited to find a political solution that would sidestep the ban.  The Biden administration has deemed TikTok a possible security threat to the U.S. and to Americans more broadly, since the app’s data could be funneled to the Chinese government.
