I went to the docs one day and there was a bloke in the waiting room,he was about 58. he couldn't even talk without gasping for air. he worked with engineered stone benchtops.he had silicosis. he told me he didn't have 12 months left in him.

Proper ppe prevents this.. sadly people don’t listen and this is the end result.. many years in the construction industry and sadly I see it to often

what about the people in jails working with stone? coming back covered in dust. I spent time in NSW jails and saw it and the women complaining about it. women lifting heavy stones and covered head to toe in dust

Engineered stone or natural stone, it’s all silica…. It is a sad situation but a completely preventable one.

Yeah you need to be working in a wet environment when it comes to stone so your safe. Cutting that stuff dry is a slow death sentence

I work in a lithium plant it’s in the air everywhere and affects companies across the road from us. We have complained and companies have but falls on deaf ears

crazy this is still happening. Owner of a blasting company here. I'm gobsmacked at how many still use sand to blast with. The dangers of silica is nothing new!
