Yanelis Munguia was ringing in the New Year with her family when she was hit by the stray bullet around 12:04 a.m. on Wednesday. The child immediately collapsed to the ground outside her family’s home. Yanelis was pronounced dead at a hospital. Miami-Dade police have now announced a $5,000 reward for information on the still-unknown shooter. ‘We speak time and time again every New Year about the fact that what goes up must come down,’ a detective told CBS News. ‘This is a prime example of the dangers of shooting a firearm indiscriminately into the air.
