After 100,000 miles you write exempt on a title the DMV should make it so you have to write the mileage on the title when you sell a used vehicle

I almost bought a used Lexus with 80K miles off someone. Thought it was too good of a deal. Ran the vin, turns out the car had over 200k miles! Guy got nervous when I showed him & asked how I did that

Nowadays just treat all vehicles as unknown mileage and sell them as high mileage regardless. 2020 f150 for 5k

Connect vehicles are not going to work with this. The old all values are always there. Ford Honda and Toyota keep the mileage in their cloud.

Well once a year the state of Illinois should have mandatory inspections. Where they will inspect the safety of the car and also have to enter the mileage. If you pass you get a sticker or paperwork.

All you have to do is ask the seller if the mileage is original if they have a clear conscious, you could definitely tell if someone shady and is hiding something they will get flustered

Hold up what about the car fax? When it gets registered, it shows on the report how much mileage was reported when it got Registered. I mean the only way this would work, is if it never registers.

If it’s electronic odometer. Grab a Scanner , it shows the right mileage on there

I bought a car and found out the odometer was rolled back when I started looking at the car fax history emissions showed last mileage as 310k but the odometer was reading under 200k
