My husband had to go to the ER on Christmas and we waiting till the next day to celebrate together. The kids were happy that we celebrated together.

My kids knew to wake us up if they woke first! And no way my husband or I would have let them open without the other there. As a matter of fact we always waited for my mother to come over too!

This is why there is a rule kids can open stockings but gifts wait until everyone is awake. My mil did this once to us. She has never been invited back for actual Christmas. 🥰
