A family of 4 was walking through pool security at the club, and once they got in, the dad put both kids in a puddle jumper. Maybe 3 and 5. So of course I was thinking “yup, here comes another set of parents ready to watch their children destroy their ability to learn how to swim while they stay dry”. They came in, found a chair, this is a crowded place by the way, and got themselves organized. I watched BOTH PARENTS, walk with both children down to the pool. Of course they were going to all just get in the water together right?? No- something astonishing, never before seen happened. THE PARENTS REMOVED THE DEVICES, put them on the side of the pool, and they ALL got in the water. Wow! Congratulations. They just used the puddle jumper for its 100 percent actual intended use. A LINE OF DEFENSE AGAINST UNWANTED WATER CONTACT. This is a crowded place. Lots of distractions, farm animals, a restaurant, splash pad, 3 pools, and these people executed to perfection. When they got out of the pool, they PUT THEM BACK ON! While they were in the water, neither one was holding a kid. The kids were walking around playing with toys on the huge ledge. This is how it’s done. No alternate reality. No effortless independence in water. Just age and skill appropriate opportunities. Which is exactly how you make your child safe in the water earlier. And what’s you understand this- now you just need to know the milestones and progressions, which I have for you!👇 @prepare2swim Comment Prepare2Swim for more information!
