@mya.nichol: I’ve seen a lot of content recently saying that so and so grew because they didn’t focus on things that didn’t matter like… posting time Hot take: you only think it doesn’t matter because you haven’t experimented with it to see that it does matter I see a BIG difference in the success of a post when I post during my optimal posting window vs when I post outside of it & I saw this on the accounts I managed when I was a SMM as well So if your goal is GROWTH, posting time matters But let’s talk about why… 1- people know when to expect your content: it’s like knowing when your favorite boutique drops their new items — you get excited, you anticipate it, you check in to see what’s new 2- engagement is key to getting your content to reach more people: the quicker people engage with your content after it’s been posted, the more likely that piece of content is to rank higher in the algorithm. so if you post when your audience is most active, they are more likely to engage Instagram even says “try posting when followers are active - many factors go into how people see content from accounts they follow, such as when people actually visit instagram and how they spend their time once here” Now if your goal isn’t growth though, which is totally okay if it’s not, then posting time doesn’t matter as much Lastly, is it better to post something than to not post at all, even if it’s outside of your optimal window? Yes.
