@liudynasty: Analysis ⬇️ Many fighters and people who train fall in love with developing their dominant hand cross as their KO shot. While this is the inclination of many, here’s why I feel developing your hook will bring you more success in landing damaging shots: 1. [CAPITALIZATION] The most common technical error made in the chaos of a fight is dropping the hands slightly below the chin, or improperly guarding the chin while exchanging with the opponent. It’s always going to be hard to stay 100% defensively sound when trading, and a L Hook is great at capitalizing on these openings, since we often focus on what is directly in front of us during striking exchanges. 2. [DETECTION] A R Cross is slightly easier to detect and evade due to it being in your vision the entire time from beginning to end. In a fight, every millisecond is crucial to staying safe and landing your shots. The L Hook, due to its angle and trajectory, often is detected just a few milliseconds later than traditional straight punches. Delayed detection will equate to higher probabilities of landing your shot before the opponent can defend or even brace for the impact. 3. [INTERCEPTION] The R Hook, being a punch that travels in a straight line, allows it to be evaded with minimal head movement from the opponent. When throwing your L Hook (and if you condition the opponent properly with feints and reads), there’s always the chance that the opponent miscalculates and weaves or slips into your L Hook, amplifying its power upon landing. These are just my opinions. What are your thoughts? #Boxing #technique #bagwork #hook #cross #boxinglife #striking #martialarts #training #heavybag

I agree my lead hook is my last shot I have for when I’m on the ropes and also my most accurate and fastest!

I can agree with this. I often feel better throwing hooks for more damage shots plus they’re quicker for close range

It’s an easier punch to hide. It also requires less range and is easily set up by uppercuts or shovel hooks (Tyson)
