As long as he has knee pads in, it wonโt get called. High school here in Ohio is the same. Knee pads get cut down to as small as possible, but theyโve got to be there.

I believe refs just check them prior to kickoff and if they cover, they are good. After that, itโs not enforced. Like the mouthpiece rule.

Not to mention, the rule requiring mouth pieces and they be utilized. contrary to some belief, properly fitted and utilized mouth piece significantly reduces the velocity effects causing concussion.
