@thezenhenandthehoneybee: How to make Castile Soap at home. Eg. Dr. Bronners type liquid soap. Traditionally Castile soap is made with just olive oil and no other oils, but the addition of coconut oil in my opinion makes for a much better soap. #castillesoap #drbronners #soap #soaprecipe #selfreliance #makeitathome Liquid Soap Ingredients: Refined Coconut Oil 800 grams Olive Oil 300 grams Distilled Water (yes, distilled) 580 grams Glycerine 300 grams Potassium Hydroxide 90% (please wear gloves and eye protection while using this, be safe friends) 286 grams Distilled Water to dilute further * I like to test the pH after making. It should be around 9. If it’s high (which it shouldn’t be if cooked long enough) I add small amounts of citric acid to neutralize the KOH in the soap to a pH of 9
Bree, I’m so grateful that you posted this video. I just wanted to share that I made this soap just now, and I’m so excited! I can’t believe I actually tried something like this, but it worked! Lol. I’m so happy! Thank you so much for your knowledge and for sharing it with us! 🌸

I would love info from you on a bathroom series! dandruff shampoo and dry hair conditioner is what I’m trying to research at the moment. I’ll have to look into body wash next afterwards

You say 'it's important to add the potassium hydroxide to the water and not the other way around'. But in the video you seem to do the opposite, putting

What does adding the glycerin do? I've only made bar soap and know glycerin is a natural byproduct of that process. Does it not happen with potassium hydroxide or is it just for it's humectant value?

How should I go about using NaOH instead? is there a way to calculate how much NaOH to use instead of KOH? I only have NaOH for making lye😭

could you use a hand mixer instead of an immersion blender and get the same results? also, could you remove the solids and shape and store them as they are instead of liquifying? thanks so much!

Ok I made both the coconut/olive oil one & this one today. They are very different. I did cut the recipe in half so wondering if I messed up but the CO one is hard & this one is fluffy. CO mixed 🫒1
