Design patterns are a must to learn when programming. Here's why! 👇
Design patterns are a must to learn when programming. Here's why! 👇 "Good design adds value faster than it adds cost." - Thomas C. Gale Truly, I mean it when I say that memorizing design patterns is so much more important than memorizing algorithms. This because it's part of the structure and architecture of your project which can play a crucial role in the efficiency of your project, but also of the algorithms you use. 🙌 When I was a student I felt design patterns were overcomplicated things, but once I started working in the industry I started to understand it's true value. Design patterns are important because they provide proven, reusable solutions to common software design problems, promoting efficiency, scalability, and maintainability. They help standardize and simplify the development process. 💡 The main types of design patterns are: 👉 Creational Patterns – Deal with object creation mechanisms (e.g., Factory). 👉 Structural Patterns – Concerned with the composition of classes or objects (e.g., Adapter, Composite). 👉 Behavioral Patterns – Focus on communication between objects (e.g., Observer, Strategy). 👉 Concurrency Patterns – Address multi-threading or parallel processing issues (e.g., Object Pool, Mutex). 👉 Architectural Patterns – Deal with the overall structure of a system (e.g., MVC, Dependency Injection). 📚 Here some resources I find valuable to know more about design patterns: 📖 Game Design Patterns (link in my bio to read online for free in my "books recommendations" section) 📖 Head first Design Patterns 🌐 Refactoring Guru 🌐 Sourcemaking 🌐 learn.microsoft 🌐 GeeksForGeeks There's much more out there to discover so are there 23 proven design patterns out there, but also quite some that are "hybrid" variants of each one of them or combined. So do your research well. 😉 - - - - - Happy coding everyone! 👨‍💻 ~ Follow for game development and programming content! 🤩 @justinbieshaar . . 🏷️ #programming #coding #gamedev #gamedevelopment #coder #programmer #programmers #designpatterns #algorithms #ces #stem #softwareengineer #softwareengineering #computerscience #cplusplus #csharp #java #python #javascript #backend #frontend
