the reason is because they're too densely muscled, and have very little, if any fat, and therefore can't float. Which is why they can't swim, same thing with chimpanzees

It’s because of the fat content in there bodies being to low where as humans have more fat in there bodies naturally so they can float better and then that leads to swimming

Basically they’re too dense. They have so much dense muscle and their bones are so dense they just sink. Boxer dogs are similar.

I'd assume it's due to their body composition, similar to how some dog breeds are BUILT for swimming, can swim, and will sink if they touch water

theres this therory that humans almost turned aquatic but stopped mid way cause of many reasons one being we use iodine in our thyroid hormones which is pretty rare on land but not in sea/ocean/rivers

most primates can't swim. it's actually pretty unique to humans which is why there's theories about us becoming semi aquatic and backing out evolution wise
