im the case, parents did not have money, so I worked at the stables in exchange for rides since I was 9. im 25 now and i am in a position to get a horse but its hard to know what to do, love kate!

I couldn’t agree more. When I got my first horse (and only unfortunately) at age 12 this is a common complaint with my Mother which I also saw. I took lessons regularly, but really had no mentor.

Oh it is definitely gate-kept. Try getting into western in NZ especially the South Island particularly as an adult rider. It’s every one for their own and not at all helpful.
