Replying to @VEGATRON there’s so much to this but… they walk and train everywhere because they have to. Japanese yen is horrible for Japanese people and those who earn it, — and that ties hand in hand with other things, but I want to talk about this so I’ll focus on this… anyways; this usually causes the expenses to be absolutely insane due to environmental sustainability and make it so difficult and nearly impossible to even enjoy having a car. So this is not out of a want. But out of a must. — it really has nothing to do with the difficulties of driving, while driving. But… Has everything to do with the struggles of being able to keep a car because of the fees that the Japanese Government charges it’s people to just own the car. Not including insurance and other expenses for the car. Realistically, owning a car here is considered a luxury, a rich people thing. — but also I have adapted lol I take the train, I walk, and I also drive lol… again I definitely have adapted, so this comment was little comedic and it was slightly incorrect or has a bit of a misunderstanding regarding as to why Japanese people train and walk everywhere, when many honestly don’t want to. But have to. Anyways please don’t think I’m being pretentious, I’m just trying to clear the misunderstanding that the reasons I stated in the video are “why most people walk and train”, when that is merely untrue. Although things like expensive parking, etc. can be and are contributing factors they are not the in depth answer. And though the narrative is often that “Japanese people walk and train because of the congestion/convenience of walking in the cities is so great”, isn’t the full truth… when yes their train systems can most definitely be/are convenient but all of that it is not really the only/main reason for it, tbh there’s so many reasons why the trains have to be convenient one being because the option for owning your own car is something luxury based. Similar to America, but in some aspects way worse (although definitely America has it’s issues as well but that’s a totally different topic).
