@plantkween: Lately, I’ve been leaning into my curiosity about the small details in fashion that often go unnoticed—like buttons. These tiny elements have traveled a fascinating journey from decorative symbols of status to practical, everyday staples. But here’s something I didn’t know: the placement of buttons on "men’s" and "women’s" clothing also has a fascinating history. For men’s clothing, buttons are traditionally on the right side—designed for convenience, as most men are right-handed and historically dressed themselves. Women’s clothing, however, typically features buttons on the left side, a nod to a time when upper-class women were dressed by servants, who would have found left-side buttons easier to manage. I found this to be quite interesting and could not help but wonder: in a world where fashion is becoming more fluid and individual expression is celebrated, could these traditional rules of design shift? Perhaps buttons could be placed based on preference or practicality, rather than holding onto norms rooted in a past that no longer applies to everyone. It’s a small change, but one that could open up new possibilities for how we think about and wear our clothing. Stay tuned for more curious finds as we explore the hidden stories woven into the seams of style, dahling #BehindTheSeams #fashiontiktok #fyp
