i actually had this exact thing happen after leaving a job for like 5 years the owner called and wanted me to cover a shift I actually did work the shift but I made her pay dearly for the favor 😂

this happened to me. I was in the hospital on my day off. they told me to cover a shift or don't come back. 3 months later they called and asked if I can cover a shift

This sort of happened to me. I left my job managing a restaurant to work in banking. 2 months after leaving I got a message from the owner of the restaurant asking if I wanted to do a closing shift.
