Emdr actually changed my life, but you’re so right it’s very intense. My lady recommended that trying to do something that gives me joy right after the session if I can! 🫂🫂

Somatic therapy is like EMDRs sister and it’s so much less heavy! It’s supposed to be better for ongoing trauma and EMDR is supposedly best for specific traumatic events in the past.

I absolutely love that you have your kids in therapy. 🤍 I know it’s not as affordable for everyone but I wish more parents did this.

I did emdr and didn't like it then I tried emdr 2.0 it's like a faster paced version. I liked it but I also put off talking about my trauma so I would change the subject to much

My EMDR therapist made me stop doing it because the trauma was continuing/too recent to be able to “safely” process

Yes I’m doing EMDR too it’s helpful it’s just like hard to progress sometimes bc I need talk therapy with my current things and then trying to go back is so much I totally feel you on that!

yes!! love emdr but so draining my therapist said you might get a headache or super tired afterwards so try and take it slow and relax after doing it 😊

honestly you should only do EMDR when you’re in a very stable place! so like you said ab new traumas- i’d wait for a more stable time based on therapists i’ve talked to ab it

I did EMDR with IFS and it changed my life! EMDR on its own would disregulate me for a couple days but IFS helps compartmentalize and target

Definitely only do what you can handle! Don’t overwhelm yourself or you won’t be able to heal properly 🫂
