I think based on the condition of the world out there, in the last 15 years, I don’t think people care as much. Their money needs to go to so many other more essential things.

For me, I prefer a neutral base then I can add colors with accent pillows blankets, artwork etc.

I think it's a reflection on young people not being able to afford houses. A lot of people rent. Landlords use basic colors to cast a wider net.

I think a lack of imagination is a lot of it. I also think it’s a masculine/feminine thing. Personally I can’t get enough color.

For me, I have constant anxiety so I want my home to feel calming so I tend to use neutral and blue and green. But I am adding more color especially in my office where I want a creative space.

I've had my brights/pastel palette for over 15 years now! Sure, sometimes I'd love for a moodier vibe, but I always gravitate back to my pink and lavender.
