I’m a special ed parapro and work with kids like this every day. I always carry very strong peppermint gum, and candies like warheads/jolly ranchers. I found this helps them lock in.

I use chili and baby cucumber. I bite the chili first to bring myself to the burn then eat the baby cucumber for the crunch and to stop the burn.

Nice I didn’t realize I was doing this, but I would always take a handful of mints with me when going out or to funerals. Going to pick these up and give it a try.
