@nepalinreel: In 2024, 66,835 Nepalis left the country for permanent resettlement, according to data from the Department of Immigration. This marks a slight decline compared to 2023, when 70,915 individuals migrated for the same purpose. Meanwhile, temporary resettlement numbers increased, with 182,700 Nepalis leaving for short-term stays abroad. The majority of migrants—856,422—left Nepal in search of employment opportunities, with 769,890 men and 96,197 women making up this group. Additionally, 119,409 individuals migrated for studies, 18,713 for healthcare, and 5,847 for UN missions. Sports-related activities accounted for 2,809 migrants. These figures highlight Nepal’s ongoing reliance on foreign employment and the shifting dynamics of migration, with temporary stays gaining popularity over permanent resettlement.
