thanks for recognizing this problem. it's not the money. the work environment has become toxic to masculinity.

It doesn’t pay! I would have been an English teacher but I couldn’t afford the low pay when I graduated from college

The only reason why I left the teaching profession was because I was not making enough money. Had I made enough money, I would still be in the profession.

I work for a school district as tech support and have considered teaching math but one of the first things that gets me is the large pay cut I'd be taking to do that. I don't even get paid insanely well to begin with, they get paid pennies.

I graduated in 97. I had 3 male teachers: band, music, geography (2 were football coaches). this isn't a new problem.

My son wanted to be a teacher but he couldn’t support a family on teacher pay. He would have made an amazing teacher. They need to increase teacher pay.

When I told people I was going to be a teacher the first question I got asked was “why?” It is a problem.

Pay and honestly I’ve always clashed with female administrators because I am outspoken and don’t “fall in line” with some of the things they say.

I’m curious what the M/F ratio is if we filter out elementary schools. Or if we just look at elementary schools?
