There was an older officer that told me “Bad things happen every day. Just bc you're exposed to it doesn't mean its your fault”. That helped me for whatever its worth

This story is heartbreaking ….this former Police officer has seen some horrible things. The little boy who got caught with the curtian string around his neck was heartbreaking .

Wise words from a senior officer. It’s unfortunate for sure, but after nearly 18 years on my mind is full of cases like this and worse. You have to be able to separate yourself from it all.
