It’s not that monks have higher status so you can’t touch them but you’re strangers, not a lot of Thais like strangers to touch them esp. on the head. It’s called manner. That’s it.

It’s not too bad. However, you cannot use your hands on their shoulders cuz it’s not too appropriate. You can just greet or worship them.❤️Anyway, monks are so friendly.
