In universe it’s well documented that mutant teenagers powers will manifest in public and often result in injuries and/ or casualties. Along with other factors, this causes humans to fear mutants.

Idk x-men discrimination always made sense to me in the context of the x-men universe alone. But the logic seemed to fall apart across verses because views of powers in other verses are different?

I agree, but there's one big flaw. No citizen praising Spider-Man know how he got his power. it's more likely that they would assume he is a mutant rather than a mutation
