The same beast of Revelation 13 that had a deadly wound (papal Rome) is imitated by an image—Protestant America—who will speak like a dragon, exercise all the power of the first beast, and cause the world to worship according to its dictates. The National Sunday Law, long predicted by students of prophecy, will be the ultimate fruit of this unholy union. The groundwork is being laid right now. Even more alarming, Congress is poised to acquiesce. Politicians, driven by the desire to maintain power, will yield to the religious right’s demands. Laws will soon reflect the morality of a religious majority rather than the liberty of conscience. We are watching the slow but deliberate formation of the image of the beast—an image that will speak through legislation and cause through force (Revelation 13:15). This is not alarmism.
