Tom :
Is this why some Chinese people have the same family name but would not have any connection? Ex: Zhang Fei served Liu Bei, Zhang Liao served Cao Cao during the 3 Kingdoms Period.

We do use sarcasm as a tonal shift to represent the opposite of the sentence subject.

Do you have any tips to recognize Korean name? 😅My girlfriend love kdrama but I’m having trouble with the names, they sound similar to mee. Didn’t have this problem with Chinese names or Japanese

So how do Chinese people know how to write someone's name without the person having to describe in detail which characters to use?

Another fun factor to throw in the works is that this can get better or worse depending on the variety of Chinese that the romanisation is based on

how does chinese define lexicographical order? like ordering 26 letters seems straightforward but there are thousands of glyphs in the simplified chinese alphabet, no?

My friends were debating this. How would you pronounce spreak (spring break)? I’ve always said spreek but they say it should be said similar to break.

In Czech you can write it both ways. Your first name first and than your surname but in more serious papers the surname goes first(if you are Czech as well and I am just writing nonsense tell me)

And that's not even getting into how confusing it is for English speakers that China has a preferred 100 surnames.

Check out the Kanji Keyboard, it’s ingenious, and allowed for much of the characters to fit into a 4-block character.
