I work in a hospital. It costs almost a $1,000 for a digital x-ray in America. Just did a medical mission trip in Guatamala. They can do the same X-rays for 6$. Insurance companies are a bullshit

I had to go to an urgent care, that was in network, but because my primary care didn't give them a directive of care, 12 hours before my appointment, they couldn't take my insurance.

My friend got billed $18,000 for an out of network consult that occurred while she was in surgery - they said she should have checked first if he was in network. She was unconscious!

Blue Cross sent me to a hospital in network, but the doctor wasn't in network. Paid an extra $350 to be seen for 20 seconds (not exaggerating).

My wife had a wildly painful, but non-malignant tumor on her ovary for years, but the insurance only authorized a surgery to remove it when it started to rot (necrosis).

Don't have to go pay for the medication you can call your insurance to see what pharmacies take your insurance. Or you can look up it on the website.

I needed Xywav and literally my doctor and I had to jump through hoops of sleep studies, trial and error for different meds, even doing a pre auth on it and when it came back denied he fought it TWICR

A huge misconception is that doctors have anything at all to do with what is covered by insurance. They may know the best option for your treatment but they have to jump through hoops
