@anna..papalia: 3️⃣More PTO 📆While salary is a major focus of a job offer don’t forget that it’s just one part of the offer. A job offer has other important benefits that are worth money as well. If you receive a job offer with a salary that is lower than you expected and they aren’t willing to increase the salary than you can get creative and ask for other things that are worth money to make up the difference. 2️⃣Sign on/Relocation Bonus 💵Occasionally organizations won’t increase the salary in the offer becasue they need to keep everyone in the same salary band. Or so they say. If this is the case a way around that is to ask for a sign on bonus. Because a sign on bonus doesn’t affect their salary band. If the offer is $90k but you were hoping to be at $100k you can ask for a $10k sign on bonus to make up the difference. Alternatively, if the new job requires you to move you can ask for a relocation bonus which helps with moving costs etc. You can also call this bonus a “professional development stipend” which is an extension of a tuition reimbursement program. 1️⃣ Better Job title Salary is only 70% of your compensation, benefits like health insurance and 401K package are NOT negotiable. However in most large corporations your perks and bonuses are connected to your title/level. If you can, negotiate a better title. 📌Other important elements of a job offer to negotiate is a start date, a flexible schedule, and working from home. If you think you should start working before you ask for these things you are NOT going to get them.
