I liked the role-playing angle of NoSleep, where you had to engage in the comments like it was real and it led to a lot of author/audience interactions.

I’m so tired of posting my stories and having them removed because they’re not some variation of “My new job has some unusual rules “.

borrasca was my peak nosleep story. brilliantly written, tight pacing, interesting and human characters. Just incredible.

the worst part of that subreddit were all the "list of rules" stories , ironically 💀

Some current rules: Stories must be FP POV, your MC cannot be- dead, in a coma, in prison, a victim, a child, any kind of animal, an inanimate object, from the future, or part of “lost media”

Best one I’ve ever read was a 20+ parter about a woman in an apartment building full of scary but (it turns out) not actually malicious entities and she became part of their weird little community

Hey Man, you mentioned the rules so many times without listing any of them. I'm just curious what the difference is between what's in that book and what's on the subreddit now

I still think about the Nosleep story where his dead girlfriend is messaging him on Facebook using phrases from their previous conversation and saying “cold” over and over and it’s been years.

i've had really successful stories on nosleep, two sentence, etc, and I've had that experience of suddenly seeing an AI account, or even an actual person, reading my story on here. 😁

I loved nosleep, but ive not been on there for years. I was on it religiously every day back then, barely been on since about 2018

Can you talk about some of the more restrictive rules that you take issue with? I don't follow the subreddit, but I'm curious to know.

I think that’s why the podcast based on the subreddit mostly takes submissions and works with the same writers over and over now

No sleep was the reason I made a reddit account 10 years ago. Now I’m just grateful for goat valley campgrounds being made into a series and the authors that were so major in like 2017-2020

I'd watch an hour long video essay breaking down the problems with the r/nosleep rules. I'm so interested to know the specifics

I still remember spending my lunch break at work reading Spire in the Woods on my phone years ago. I found a copy on ebay for $10 a couple years ago. Some really great stories have come from nosleep.

I remember when iia was crazy prolific on there, and then so many people started emulating his style and I lost interest. The Whistlers and the SAR officer/stair in the woods were some of my favorites
