one could argue with this customer by saying technically you didn't buy the movie you bought a seat and a time slot at which to watch the movie. How you choose to utilize that time is your discretion.

When I worked in a movie theater something like this happened where their kid fell asleep during the film and they demanded a refund.

my cinema has screenings for people hard of hearing like me where they're would be subtitles and sometimes a sign language interpreter theres disclaimers for this when you book tickets and the amount

i work at a movie theater and i just tell them that the pos doesnt allow anything after the showing has happened so if you want a ticket refund for the 1pm showing and its the 4pm, no refund/discount
