Correction, it’s not a buyout. It’s called deferred resignation and in that deferred resignation offer they will continue to pay us through September not upfront.

Any corporation that is down sizing can walk you to the door. A voluntary buyout is much more than many get.

Isn't every private industry job on the planet like this? I take a buyout and have no guarantee of my next job? Let's balance this budget before Rome falls! This is a good start!

So if they do not pass a deal to fund the government until say October does that mean those workers who agreed to this deal won’t get paid for those months the government was shutdown?

And probationary employees were not eligible but no one was told that until after they accepted. I don’t know anyone would want to work for the government ever again.

I don’t understand how this judge was able to put a pause on the president’s offer but then realize he doesn’t have jurisdiction to rule on it

Never heard anyone say the offer included lump sum up front. Common sense says they continue to draw their checks til times up.

Isn’t the money already spent if they are employed and on payroll. So wouldn’t that money come from what is already approved?

I also have been told that if you sign it, you cannot be a federal employee again for 5 years.

Are they being paid up front? I read they would be put on administrative leave so they would be on the books and paid like normal untill September

Tbh. That’s a swweeeet deal for those workers. You can get another job in the private sector or another dept that is hiring at the state or fed level and get 10 months free pay lol

Morning, not stopping until September. Wow, that’s a long enough time to find another job and get settled in. And if you find a job within the first month, that’s even better because you have all this unearned income until September nice wish my employee would offer that

Payment for the buyout will be tucked into a must pass bill for the budget….my guess.

They aren’t giving the money up front… they are putting staff on admin leave that’s how staff will be paid because staff will still be employees.
