@tannerskitchen: What book dish should I cook next? 📚🍽 You asked for it, here it is! Herdazian Chouta from Words of Radiance by @Brandon Sanderson at @Dragonsteel. A meat and gravy based street food that can be held in one hand. (Also, I couldn’t resist making a new @chappell roan / Stormlight remix) "Cha-ou-ta. Herdazian food, gon. Good stuff. You can have a bite, if you want." - The Lopen In an interview, Brandon likened Chouta to a Mexican/Italian blend consisting of “deep fried meatballs in a sopapilla”, so that’s what I made! (Adding some shredded cabbage for that extra fresh crunch) Sopapilla Recipe: 🫓 4 cups flour ½ tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder Whisk together in a bowl Add ¼ cup shortening Mix together Add one mixed egg Continue stirring while adding 1 ⅓ cups of warm milk (or water) Wrap and rest your dough (for around 45 minutes) Roll out dough balls to your desired size Add your bread to a frying pan with about half an inch of oil (I used peanut oil) and baste it. Cook about 1-2 minutes each side or until golden Meatball Recipe 🍖 (original recipe by Mortadella Head): 500g beef mince (or preferred meat) ground 80/20 beef 5 tsp pressed garlic 2 tbsp chopped parsley 2 tsp black pepper 2 eggs 1 cup bread crumbs 1 cup grated parmesan Salt to taste Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix, kneading into a meatball Add about half an inch of oil (I used peanut) to a frying pan, enough to cover half the meatball. Divide into mini balls (golf ball sized) Roll each ball in breadcrumbs before adding to frying pan Fry the meatballs 4-5 minutes, turning once halfway. Serve meatballs in your sopapilla with your gravy of choice, and any garnishes (I added shredded cabbage for extra crunch). I like that chappel roan has become the official music for stormlight somehow. it's my two interest that are the furthest apart but they just keep coming together
