This feels stronger in the N America and U.K. than Europe where it’s very common to see men having drinks or even hanging out together with just their kids (dad play dates) in Spain and Holland and Germany even. Greater work life balance might give men more opportunities to build their social lives.

i think that it needs to be a balance. if both partners can be emotionally supportive. the man is emotionally supportive of his woman and she is emotionally supportive of him. it takes two to tango so both need to be supportive. i understand when a woman feels that they are doing all the work and the man is not doing the same. And guys should have a few close friends at least i agree. but women can't just blame men and take the back seat completely and not be there. then there is no point of being in a relationship. partners need to lift each other up.

The main problem with most men who are lonely or have trouble getting in relationships, is not because they “depend” on women.They just don’t see women as “people” but more objects to be used
