I had a moment scrolling through Instagram where I saw a video of the LEGENDARY Keith Carlock playing a slow Purdie Shuffle and it made me question if I ever knew how to play that groove in the first place. He had so much control and confidence in every note placement and it was a nice reality check to show me how much more I have to learn. So this is what I've been working on lately. REALLY interpreting the minute spacing shifts of triplets to 16ths. Making sure there's no flamming in the kick. Etc etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of where I am, but once again made aware of how much I still have to learn. I hope I never stop learning
