@thezenhenandthehoneybee: Beneficial nematodes: Part 1 of the 7 high maintenance things I do each season so that the rest of the season my garden is low maintenance and organic Beneficial nematodes are microscopic worms that parasitize pest larvae and release bacteria into the pests eliminating them in about 7-10 days. In good conditions they can live in the soil for several months reproducing inside of pests as they parasitize them. In Central Florida I spray them once per year in late winter or early Spring when temperatures will be 44-83F for 1-2 weeks. Keep nematodes refrigerated until use Mix with 60-70 F water prior to application Apply on a rainy day, cloudy day or at dusk as direct sunlight will kill them Apply with a watering can or a sprayer Water before and after application Keep soil moist for 1-2 weeks #organicpestcontrol #gardenpests #beneficialnematodes #organicgardening #naturalgardening
“There’s a beneficial nematode for that,”is now going to be my reply when anyone around me complains about an ailment or other inconvenience.

Do you wait until the pests are pre existing? Or could I research which pests are most likely to arrive in my area and add the nematodes to my seeds in advance? I haven’t gardened before but I’m start
