@imeemade: Double checking your work is always helpful. This time I was able to use the simulation extension on @Fusion 360 which is super handy to make sure @BAMBULAB USA PPA-CF is going to hold up to the Beat’s little turbo. #autodeskad #3dscanning #carmod #3dprinting

my only fear of printing anything for inside the engine bay is temperature. so abs is what id go for. idk anything about ppa. do watch the dangers of cf filaments. tiny fibers get in your skin

Did it take into consideration heat? If so that’s very cool but I think it would be worth thinking about

I did a brunch of testing on printed intakes in college. You need that big factor of safety for back fires. It was hard to predict the pressure increase from backfires, but your probably close

Pro tip, try sealing your cf parts in something like polyurethane to not get carbon fiber splinters or waterlogging of the PPA :)

Your simulation assumes the part is injection molded and not FDM printed. If it does fail it will be at the layer lines

running sim and doing all that work, would've been easier just to slap it in and do the one way to find out, or seal it and hook a gauge to it blast 30psi and hope for the best.. idk nice work tho

SWS Motorsports here on TikTok is printing adapters and what not for superchargers. They then powder coat them then after they’re printed.

Just a suggestion but you can use the 3D print as a mold and lay down actual carbon fiber over it and then you’ll have a carbon fiber plenum which should be a much better suited material

I have done this and it has failed a few times. I then started doing a single overlay with carbonfiber or even just doing chopped carbonfiber when lazy. It looks good and never had one fail.

awseome. I am very interested to see how this holds up over time. Does the heat cycling make it brittle after a few years?

When I was part of my colleges FSAE race team we printed our intake runners and plenums out of PA-CF. Never had any issues with pa, but we prototyped with epoxy coated PLA which lasted about ~20hrs

And if worse comes to worse just reprint it and make it into a mold and use whatever material you wish.

FEMs assume solid properties, that model isnt worth anything. the design is probably fine, but FEMs are incredibly powerful tools that can lead you down the wrong road incredibly fast

hi, do you know if the CR-Scan Ferret Pro 3D Scanner is any good? its one of the cheapest options out there, so it would be a nice one to get in to 3d scanning?
