@jamusjlim: Singapore’s median household income in 2024 was an impressive $11,297 a month. Yet many households still feel that it’s not enough to get by. How much progress has there truly been in wages over the past 5 years? I offered my take in my response to #Budget2025. #makingyourvotecount
disingenuous pseudo economist. if he werent so engrossed in playing politics, and being a woke liberal for his minute of fame maybe he would find some praise for SG’s enviable achievements

I have issues with them not releasing the detailed figures and full breakdown of citizen vs residents vs pass holders and between sectors.

I like how people in the comments ask Jamus for solutions instead of the party that is holding more than 2/3 majority and has power to change constitution and pass laws. 🙄

Why don’t the government explain the mean income of individual Singapore born citizens. Not new citizens or PRs!

Well spoken. The statistics are corrupted. many locals earn below the median income. And household median is high because many can’t get and buy a house, resulting in a larger household.

So no new citizens and pr ,our growth will be slower or shows a decline. Will wages still go up when there is lack of workforce?

different statistics aim to show some information about the truth. If you’re gonna pick at the use of mean or median and not provide other stats to better explain the situation, then whats the point

The OECD, UN & World Bank all collect and publish data on median household income. Th is is a widely used stat in global economic analysis for insights.

The statistics won’t lie! How many household is below $5k? How many household is $5k to $10k, how many above $10k to $20k and so on. The average income is not a clear index to reflect.

We need minimum 1/3 x 97 = 33 opposition seats to deny PAP a blank cheque. Where are we going to field 33 when we currently only have 8 WP MP in Parliament? 😅
