I grew up with Collies (farming background) and I’d love one but my lifestyle isn’t suitable so I won’t get one. People need to be responsible.

So basically a border collie is smarter than me. 😆

You have to be honest about your family’s capacity for a high drive dog. My family is not a high drive dog family. We have basset hounds 🤣

I’ve said before on your page. About 30 years ago my husband and I wanted a border collie. Never had a dog before, worked out of the house full time. The breeder said we were unsuitable. She was right

they are meant to have work. that's why they don't thrive in a city apartment 🤷♀️

Australian Shepherds too. They need to work, love to herd -ANYTHING-, and so darn loyal when they choose you as their person.

I never understand when people in the city have border collies. People who don’t run 10 miles a day with their dog.

Border Collies are literally my favourite dogs but I won’t have another one until I have my smallholding. Those babies need a job! My big girl was with me from the age of 10 until her death at 15. 1

This is why we need to do our research on any breed.🥰

I got a collie without knowing anything about the breed. I cried the first week I had her, thinking I’d made a massive mistake and feeling guilty. She is my best friend now & the reason I get out of -

I agree with you about 90 percent. I have one, and because he is so smart I was able to control his never ending appetite for mischief and uncontrollable bursts of energy. As you said my friend,

I always fail to see how collie’s can be a typical house dog/pet. As much as I adore them.

Do you think this applies to Australian Shepards too? Been thinking about getting one. Our shelter has one

My family had a border collie when I was a kid. What you said it true, but we didn't really know much about the breed and didn't give him enough physical and mental stimulation. My dad would give him walks, but other than that, he was in the house most of the day. He was a great dog and loved us, but looking back, I feel bad that we didn't provide the exorcise and mental stimulation he needed. I miss him.

NEVER buy a dog without researching what they are bred for. more rules need to be laid down b4 being allowed to get a dog.!!
