@cyd.red: Here in Florida, we’re known for our ‘gators (no, they don’t crawl out of the toilets!) but did you know, you don’t have to venture all the way to the Everglades adventure park and book tours to see them in their natural habitat? Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is located in Boynton Beach in south Florida. I have since visited here many times and have never failed to see at least one alligator, usually more! It truly is amazing and beautiful to see them in their natural habitat. This refuge is one of the largest urban wildlife refuges in the US and is home to many different species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and butterflies. There are many outdoor activities you can enjoy, such as hiking, biking, boating or canoeing, and fishing. I enjoy walking the wooden boardwalk through the swamp, where you can see the different plant life and animals of the marshland, enjoy the still silence and feel immersed in a completely different world. There is also a visitors center that is worth a visit to learn about all the wildlife that reside here that you may see on your stroll. Entry fee to the park is $10, and annual passes are offered as well. **🐶 Pets are allowed, but only in certain areas (unfortunately they look like tasty little morsels to the gators!).
