@addielamarr: Technically, Mozilla has stated that they “don’t sell data in the way people think about it,” but their recent actions make this highly suspicious doublespeak. Theyre refusing to directly say they are NOT selling data anymore. They removed their explicit no-data-selling promise and updated Firefox’s code at the same time, raising concerns about why these changes were necessary now since the update is due to “browser functionality” Mozilla relies heavily on Google funding, making data monetization a tempting path. Their vague wording, combined with potential expanded telemetry and data-sharing, suggests they may be preparing for future monetization. While they haven’t outright admitted to selling user data, the timing and lack of transparency make their intentions questionable. I am switching to another browser, amd I recommend that you do too. #cybersecurity #InfoSec #Tech #TechTips #techcareer #technology #internet #coding #womenintech #coding #education #IT #hacker #CybersecurityJob

toyota enthusiast :
Firefox did not change their practices, they only clarified their terms. they sell your data after removing all identifiable information. Firefox is still massively better than every other mainstream

Firefox is not selling your data, and any kind of telementary can be easily dissabled. They bought a tool that can be used for ad purposes, and they implement it into firefox. Stop fear-mongering.

Firefox is not wrong that “sell” is defined broadly under some data privacy laws, such as California’s CCPA/CPRA which defines it as disclosure for monetary or “other valuable consideration”
