Ellie :
I cluck for trot, or when I’m already in the canter for more pace. Kiss for canter transition if needed personally! But some horses are trained by words for their gaits which is a fun trick!

Lisa :
The click and kiss mean two different verbal commands so it depends on how the horse is trained or how you train it.

Neither is right or wrong! I start my own colts, and I’ve always taught them that when I kiss that means go faster. Just be consistent with what your asking for and the sounds you associate with it

Totally depends on the horse and how it’s trained

Cluck for contiuned movement and impulsion so like when I want a more forward trot or canter. Kiss to canter, but rarely ever use- and making sounds when you get to showing can be a no no depending on level/trainer/disicpline/ etc.

Clucking means trot and kissing means canter. They are two separate verbal cues.

Generally cluck for trot or go forward and kiss for canter or asking for ‘more’ but honestly sometimes when the ring is dusty and my mouth is dry clucking isn’t an option and I rely on kissing 😅

I guess it depends on how the horse has been trained. I’ve seen people kiss when they want their horse to calm down. If you ride lesson horses, make sure to ask😂

Just depends on how the horse was trained, mine I just use kissing, but with my wild one, it's kissing and clicking because he doesn't want to move when we do work, so just depends on the horse

I’ve always learned/used cluck for trot (a single cluck for “keep walking” or “keep trotting” as a reminder) and kiss is for canter.

Clicking is for trot. Kiss is lope. Hiss is run your buns off. I tried to tell my kid they’re not interchangeable on my mare…he was certain he saw Jesus when he didn’t listen 😂

Depends on how the horse is trained! I kiss for canter & cluck for walk, more forward movement & multiple clucks for trotting.

No kissing no clicking. It’s mental torture to me as a trainer. Just learn the physical aids gently and accurately.(From English perspective) for a beginner haha do as you please you’re learning

When I train, I cluck for them to move off, if they’re being lazy I smooch to engage more pressure like “HEY LETS MOVE”! Lol if that helps.

If I was you I would click for now . I kiss when I ask for canter and your horse might be confused . Sometimes I catch myself doing it the other way around though 🫣

However the horse is trained. They don’t know until we teach them. Mine know verbal commands for each gait plus cluck for trot and kiss for lope

There’s no wrong or right answer! I teach my horses that cluck means pick up the pace and kiss (x3) means canter

Depends on the horse. Our horses, click to get them trotting, kissing when they canter to keep them going or to pick up a quicker pace

Clucking versus kisses every person has their own system. A lot of western people a kiss will equal low for their horse for me. A kiss means more energy, where a cluck is used for half steps or piaffe

One click for walk, two clicks for trot and kiss for canter but over all you should focus on using the proper aids with no clicking or kissing.

For me I drive horses. I use walk, trot, stand ect they respect what I ask with out clicking. I hate clicking after them. If I make a kiss sound. They know to get moving their arse 🤷🏼♀️
