I try to always wear a slip underneath my dresses, so that I only need to do spot treatment and not wash the whole dress after every wear.

do you know what temperatures you're referring to specifically? my laundry machine has 30C, 40C, 60C, 90C. i currently use 60 for bedding and towels and such, and 30 or 40 for clothes

It’s me against the Lysol sanitizer marketing. If you don’t deal with shit, literally, you don’t need it!! This is about hot water but we have so many consumables marketed at us that don’t matter :/

I haven’t used heat since I started doing my laundry bc I would read the laundry instructions on the clothes before putting them in the washer & I noticed most of them explicitly say use cold water

The only things i put in the dryer are towels cause otherwise they are scratchy and bedding cause i physically dont have room to put it anywhere to airdry

Because I am an in home caregiver for elderly people, I use the warm water setting for my clothes. If my daughter has an accident I wash her stuff with mine. Otherwise, it's cold water all the way.

I keep seeing this video. I'm not sure why the algorithm is so convinced I need to learn about the effects of heat on clothes

Agreed but I'd recommend a hot cycle (60-90°c) every once in a while (with towels or bed sheets) to keep you washing machine from smelling bad 😊

Unbounded.Art.and.Crafts :
but you do need to run a hot cycle quite often to keep your machine clean 💡

imo the exception to this rule is everything that directly touches your skin there is a reason people used to boil their under clothes

does this apply for handwashing too? i tend to use hot water because my hands get cold easily, but idk if that’s as hot as washing machine level

we have the washer/dryer combo and it doesn't have temp settings. i hate it. being disabled/having difficulty with using my hands, hang drying takes a lot out of me 😭

I will kiss the gun if I have to hang up every single shirt, sock and piece of underwear to dry over and over.
I'd rather buy new clothes more often.

why do some garments/blankets recommend heat when washing than? Is it just so we have to go buy a new one?
