A cop in Canada can require you to give your license and registration for any reason/no reason. While in a car you must give your name and date of birth to a Canadian police officer when asked.

So in Canada, if you’re behind the wheel of a vehicle, cops can demand your id, reg and insurance and will arrest or ticket you if you don’t provide it. Cop did assault him twice though.
