These always come up! 👇 Let me know which ones you resonate with: No. 1 Not connecting your past money experiences with your current habits
Almost every time I ask people to reflect on what money was like growing up or how their parents handled it, there’s a lightbulb moment.
They’ll say something like, “Oh! That’s probably why I do XYZ with my money now.”
This is often one of the biggest hidden blockers. No. 2 Letting your boss be the only decision-maker for your income
No one will care more about your income growth than you do.
Your boss will always have priorities above your financial future. Yes, I know many roles have fixed pay scales that won’t change often, but there are so many creative ways to increase your income if you’re open to thinking outside the box. Unfortunately, our education doesn’t teach us to think like this!
(See my other videos for ideas) No. 3
Not learning about investing soon enough or discounting yourself from it altogether. It has never been easier in the whole of history to learn about and start investing, and the benefits of investing are massive. It’s not just about the potential growth of your savings; it’s also about how it makes you feel. People I’ve known (myself included) who’ve learned to invest and are now doing so regularly have such a feeling of accomplishment, hope and confidence. And in today’s economy, that’s a really great thing! No. 4 Only thinking short-term
When you’re feeling the pressure with money, it’s easy to focus on quick fixes.
And while I love a quick win, real progress usually comes from small changes that build up over time.
Every smart money move you make has the potential to grow into something much bigger.
Sticking with it and giving your habits time to compound is where the real change happens. No. 5 Avoiding the numbers
When I get people to do an exercise where they look back and see where their money has been going, there is ALWAYS a surprise in there that they spot.
It’s one thing to think you know where your money is going, it’s another thing to actually look through your account and see the real story!
