@pbsnews: Five years ago this week, the World Health Organization called the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. In the United States, officials declared a national emergency, triggering travel bans for non-U.S. citizens and shutdowns nationwide. Now, many who lived through the pandemic, including those who treated infected patients, are still dealing with the fallout. Ali Rogin reports.#covid19 #anniversary #pandemic #news #pbsnews #pbs

The pandemic is ongoing. We just normalized mass infection/death like we did with the flu 100 years ago.

We have got to figure out a way to talk about the traumatizing effects of the shutdown while also acknowledging that the pandemic is ongoing and disabling people.

Many media outlets have been and continue to be complicit in this ongoing toll. And if you lot actually cared you'd know along with others, the W.H.O. has not declaired the pandemic over.

lesson (re)learned is how desperately ppl sprint away frm reality when it's upsetting. like how c19 continues decimating health & the economy on a societal scale & we ignore it even as we talk abt it

Sadly neither doctors or the public have learned anything. Most doctors are still completely ignorant about Covid and long COVID. They fail to wear PPE that they had been screaming for the first year. CDC failed to inform them or the public that Covid is a vascular disease damaging mire each infection. By #6 most will have long COVID. We are less prepared for bird flu because we were lied to & gladly accepted it. Wear a respirator mask if you wish to live in reality of covid.

Do people still not understand that Covid has long term effects for everyone who catches it? It is a vascular illness. It attacks everything in your body and can do serious damage even if you have no symptoms. It’s not a cold and it’s not safer now than it was before. It’s going to continue to disable people because folks refuse to mask and vaccinate.
