@pbsnews: Pentagon DEI purge removes 26,000 images from digital platforms More than 26,000 images have been flagged for removal from the Department of Defense databases as part of a Pentagon plan to purge diversity, equity and inclusion content from digital platforms. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to end DEI programs across the federal government on his first day in office, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth set March 5 as the deadline for the Department of Defense’s removal of that content. But according to the AP, some of the images – like one of the Enola Gay B-29 aircraft that dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, during World War II – may have been inaccurately targeted. It seems that many of those flagged included the word "gay,” affecting images of the Enola Gay aircraft and service members with that last name. Photos of individuals like the first female graduate of the Infantry Training Battalion or the Tuskegee airmen were also slated to be removed. An official who spoke on condition of anonymity to the AP said that as many as 100,000 images or posts could be deleted.
