@cbsnews: Bodycam footage shows the moment a Florida police officer pointed a gun at a woman and her toddler on March 4. Officers were responding to an altercation between a man and a store employee which involved a firearm in a parking lot outside a supermarket, police said. The man had left the scene and was later found alongside the woman and young child seen in the footage after exiting his vehicle. Police said the 27-year-old woman, Mariah Banks, was directed to get to the ground, to which she complied, and her child “mimicked the mother’s actions.” A pistol was later found in their vehicle. “Officers responded with an appropriate level of caution with the understanding there was a weapon involved seeking to resolve the situation. … As soon as the officer approaching Banks became aware of the presence of the child, he immediately pointed his firearm towards the ground at a low-ready position,” police said. “At no point was the officer’s weapon pointed at the child as confirmed by multiple cameras.” #florida #winterhaven #police #bodycam
