In fairness he still was drinking just WAY less which true alcoholics can’t do. I think there are varying degrees but from the outside looking in I could see how it’s confusing.

Drinking due to stress or cause escapism isn’t always alcoholism or being alcoholic you can just have an unbalance relationship with it which can happen multiple times.
